Saturday, 29th September, saw the conclusion of the 13th annual high-level security and foreign policy The Riga Conference 2018. Over 700 participants attended two days of discussions that raised topics that are current to Latvia and the European Union. Among the main speakers were the Vice President for the Euro and Social Dialogue of the European Commission, Valdis Dombrovskis, President of the Madrid Club, Vaira Vīķe Freiberga and The Rt Hon Earl Howe, Minister of State for Defence in the United Kingdom.

The Riga Conference 2018 commences with questions on our future

Today, on 28th September, the largest security and foreign policy forums in the Baltic Sea region – The Rīga Conference 2018 – commences at the National Library of Latvia. Over the next two days the conference will welcome heads of states, experts, diplomats, academics and media representatives together with some 700 experts from around the world discussing touching questions to the Western alliances.

On 28 and 29th September the National Library of Latvia in Riga will host the annual high-level security and defence forum “The Rīga Conference 2018”, bringing together almost 800 participants from across the world. The conference, organised by the Latvian Transatlantic Organisation in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defence, has been shaping the foreign policy debate in the Baltic Sea region since 2006.

The Rīga Conference is one of the leading foreign and security policy forums in Northern Europe. It has become a unique venue for constructive dialogue on international security issues between leading global decision makers.

The Rīga Conference 2018 will be held on 28th and 29th September at the National Library of Latvia, in Riga and is expected to bring together over 700 participants from around the world.

This year, we are looking for approximately 70 volunteers to participate and gain international experience at the Rīga Conference 2018, working with the Latvian Transatlantic Organisation from 16th till 30th of September.
