LATO expert introduces Ukrainian students with Latvian Euro-Atlantic integration experience

LATO expert Uldis Umulis, author of the books “NATO and Latvia’s Security” and “NATO and Georgia’s Security” on February 10-12, 2009 visited Rivne, a city in the North-Western part of Ukraine, where he introduced local students with Latvian Euro-Atlantic experience.


LATO was invited to share Latvian NATO integration experience by the Ukrainian NGO “Institute of European Advancement” and Christian Democratic Youth Union, who has been organising NATO informative campaigns in the universities all over Ukraine for the last three years with public debates “Ukraine-NATO: for and against” and public lectures of experts from NATO countries as the part of campaigns.

This time on February 11 Ukrainian students had a chance to listen to the lecture of LATO expert on NATO and Latvia’s NATO integration in the Rivne State Humanitarian University, but on February 12 vivid debates on Ukraine’s integration into NATO has been organised, which followed by the video bridge with the NATO HQ and presentations of Lithuanian defence attaché in Ukraine. During the visit Uldis Umulis also had been interviewed by the  Rivne regional radio station and had a meeting with the head of the regional state administration Victor Matchuk and his deputy Stepan Pavliuk.
