This year on April 2-4, representatives of the Youth Atlantic Treaty Association will join young leaders from across the Atlantic Community on the margins of the 60th Anniversary NATO Summit in Strasbourg for a Youth Summit ‘NATO in 2020: What lies ahead?’
This initiative is being organized under the leadership of NATO’s Public Diplomacy Division and in partnership with the ATA/YATA, the Atlantic Council of the United States, l’Ecole Nationale D’Administration (ENA) and l’Office Franco-Allemand pour la Jeunesse (OFAJ).
At Strasbourg, the emerging generation of leaders will focus on NATO’s future and the global security challenges ahead. High-level experts and policy makers will address the delegates and will challenge them to reflect on a broad range of political and social topics related to global security and the NATO Summit.
Latvian Transatlantic organisation and Latvian Transatlantic Youth Club are the national coordinators in Latvia and on February 17, 2009 have called for the applications for the Youth Summit.
An applicant must submit an application form, a detailed CV, a motivation letter along with the short essay on the topic “Latvia in NATO – 5 years of experience” till the February 26 deadline.
Conditions for Applicants
1. Applicants are NOT eligible if they have attended a previous youth event during a NATO Summit.
2. All applicants must be a young professional who has just begun a career in the fields of social sciences, public policy, economics, law, journalism, political science, business, or related fields or a graduate student nearing the end of his or her studies.
The results of the selection procedure will be announced on February 27. The authors of the best four works will be selected and sent to the Secretariat of the Atlantic Treaty Association. As a result one candidate will be chosen to represent Latvia.
