Public pre-election discussion „Challenges of energy policy in Latvia: solutions and perspectives”

The Latvian Transatlantic Organisation in cooperation with the Soros Foundation – Latvia welcome you to a public pre-election discussion entitled “Challenges of energy policy in Latvia: solutions and perspectives”. The discussion will take place on August 24, at 10.00 AM in the Radisson Blu Hotel Latvia, hall BETA 2, 55 Elizabetes street.

This year’s discussion is a continuation of the lively debates centred around energy policy which took place last year, having attracted wide attention from a variety of energy experts, policy makers, entrepreneurs, investors, representatives from embassies and many specialists within the field.

This year’s discussion will be devoted to the current situation and future expectations of the progress in the Latvian energy sector. Speakers invited to the discussion are representatives of five of the leading political parties – Dzintars Zaķis (Unity), Einārs Cilinskis (party alliance “VL-TB/LNNK”), Ivars Zariņš (party alliance “Harmony Centre”) and Mārtiņš Jirgens (Union of Greens and Farmers) and Valdis Zatlers (Zatler’s Reform party). The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Andris Sprūds, Member of the Board of the Latvian Transatlantic Organisation and Acting Director of the Latvian Institute of International Affairs.

The discussion will be simultaneously translated into English.
