LATO invites active students, researchers, young professionals to apply to at least one of the great events held this summer in Portugal, Denmark and Azerbaijan.
Portuguese Atlantic Youth Seminar (PAYS) will be held at Sintra’s Airbase Nr 1, near Lisbon, from the 23rd to the 30th of July, under the general theme “NATO Transformation and the New Transnational Threat Paradigm”. PAYS is the perfect chance of a full, productive and enriching week in Lisbon for any Young Atlanticist or academic interested in geopolitics, security and defense issues, as well as those willing to hear the feedback of experts on the outcomes of the Chicago Summit.
The organizers will cover accommodation, board (meals), but flight/travel expenses may be partially sponsored, on a case by case basis; so ask for the sponsorship if you need it. Danish Atlantic Youth Seminar (DAYS) is organized by the Danish Atlantic Treaty Association. DAYS 2012 entitled “Tomorrow’s Challenges Today” will be held from the 2nd to the 8th of July at the Aalborg Airbase. In the seminar youth representatives from Europe, North America and the Caucasus will discuss issues such as Smart Defence and the future of warfare, as well as The Arctic as a new scene for more traditional resource politics. The future security challenges of NATO, the UN and the EU will be analyzed and debated as well.

NATO International School of Azerbaijan (NISA) is organizing Summer Session 2012 entitled “Crises response: International Communities approaches, capacities and resources”. This session will be held from 1st to the 7th July, in Baku, Azerbaijan. NISA Summer Session will be rich in program with plenary sessions, working groups, round table and simulation game as well as site visits. Topical issues related to the subjects of the session will be discussed within plenary sessions, seminars and working groups with the invited distinguished experts and governmental officials.
To apply, please follow the link (here). NISA will provide scholarships to cover the expenses on accommodation, meals, local transportation and social programs during the event dates. NISA welcomes the self-coverage of the travel costs by participants. Nevertheless, limited funds are also available to provide reimbursement of the travel expenses up to 50% of some qualified participants. Deadline for the application is June 3rd.
