Approaching the 10th Anniversary of Baltic NATO Membership: Accomplishments and a Way Forward

On November 28 conference ‘Approaching the 10th Anniversary of Baltic NATO Membership: Accomplishments and a Way Forward’ will convene in Riga, Latvia.

Conference is hosted by the Latvian Transatlantic Organisation (LATO) alongside with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defence of Latvia. This will be the opening event to welcome the 10th anniversary of Latvia and the Baltic States in NATO as well as to honour the 65th anniversary of NATO and 10 and 15 years since the Visegrad countries (Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic and Slovakia) joined NATO. The conference will focus on the main accomplishments and benefits from the membership, discuss regional cooperation within the Baltic States and the Visegrad countries, credibility of operational performance and policy, outlook for the future, and effectiveness and visibility of NATO Public Diplomacy.

Among the conference guests will be diplomats, politicians, academics and researchers from the Baltic and Visegrad counties. Foreign Minister of Latvia H.E. Mr. Edgars Rinkēvičš and Minister of Defence of Latvia Dr. Artis Pabriks will open the event by giving welcoming remarks. Among the confirmed conference guests there are Mr. Māris Riekstiņš, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Latvia to NATO Mr. Jānis Sārts, State Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, Latvia Ms. Kyllike Sillaste-Elling, Undersecretary for Political Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Estonia Mr. Jan Havr?nek, Assistant First Deputy Minister, and Director of Defence Policy and Strategy Division of the Ministry of Defence of the Czech Republic, Mr. Marijus Velička, Vice-Minister of National Defence, Lithuania, and many other distinguished guests.
