The Latvian Transatlantic Organisation in cooperation with the Soros Foundation – Latvia organise a public discussion entitled ,,Energy Solutions in Latvia: Perspectives in the Baltic Sea Region’’. The discussion will take place on September 21, at 10:00 AM in Radisson Blu Hotel Latvia, hall BETA 1 (Elizabetes street 55).
The first panel discussion will be dedicated to the current situation and future prospects of the development in energy sector of Latvia with representatives of five leading political parties – Minister of Economics Mr. Artis Kampars (party alliance Unity), Minister of Transport, Mr. Kaspars Gerhards (party alliance VL-TB\LNNK), Minister of Environment, Mr. Raimonds Vējonis (Union of Green and Farmers), former Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Māris Riekstiņš (party alliance For a Good Latvia) and energy expert Mr. Armands Strazds (party alliance Harmony Centre). The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Andris Sprūds, Member of the Board of the Latvian Transatlantic Organisation.
The discussion (in Latvian) will be broadcast on the internet site DELFI.
The second panel discussion entitled “Expectations vs. Realities: Investments in Energy in Latvia” will be devoted to the investment policy towards the Latvian energy sector, featuring such speakers as Mr. Dins Merirands, Head of Energy Department from the Ministry of Economics of Latvia, Mr. Guntars Kokorevičs, Chief representative of energy company Dalkia in Latvia, Mr. Juris Cīrulis, owner of biogas producing farm ”Mežacīruļi”, Mr. Jānis Vinters, owner of biogas producing farm “Līgo”, Mr. Uldis Pīlēns, president of UPB Energy (company produces technologies for cogeneration) and Mr. Uldis Bariss, Chairman of the Management Board of Latvenergo AS. Energy expert and independent consultant Mr. Juris Ozoliņš will moderate the discussion.
The discussion will be simultaneously translated into English.
