A look back at the panel discussion “Is Belarus lost to the West?”

A look back at the panel discussion “Is Belarus lost to the West?”

On 16th of January YATA Latvia began a very active year by organizing a discussion about the future relations of Belarus and the rest of the world, the discussion was called  “Is Belarus lost to the West?”.

In the light of the current geopolitical order and pressing issues, the topic of Belarus has faded but at the same time has not lost its relevance. Together the experts analyzed how Belarus can become a safe, democratic, and independent country. While we can continue discussing these questions, all the panelists agreed that the future of Belarus depends on its people and we have to find a way to support the democratic Belarus people movements inside and outside of the country.

The  future of Belarus was discussed by an distinguished panel of experts:

  • E. Einārs Semanis, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Embassy of Latvia in Belarus residing in Riga
  • Margo Vorykhava, advisor on Youth Policy and Students to Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya and also a Chairperson at Belarussian National Youth Council RADA
  • Aleksandrs Mironovs, youth activist, member of YATA Latvia
  • Moderated by Dmytro Filonenko, Executive Vice President of YATA Ukraine.
  • You can find a recording of the discussion here.

YATA Latvia would like to thank all of our listeners, partners, and experts for your contribution to a safe and liberal world.
