Latvia’s and Nordic youth conference “The Importance of Global Conventions”
YATA Latvia is pleased to announce that from the 8th until the 10th of November, youth from Latvia, Sweeden, Norway and Finland will gather in Riga for a conference “The importance of global conventions”. Within this conference the light will be cast on topics that are important in international security, human rights and societal resilience, whilst bringing crucially important youth perspective into the picture.
As peace and security is undermined in today’s geopolitical situation there is a need to discuss how working together, we can better the world around us and make it safer. Global agreements have held rule abiding countries accountable for their actions but more and more we can witness that for some countries these agreements and democratic values have become insignificant.
The conference “The Importance of Global Conventions” will offer an opportunity for its participants to listen in on expert opinions, engage in fruitful discussion and try on their own to develop an agreement about the topic that in their opinion is important for international peace and security. Altogether the conference will gather around 35 participants from Latvia and YATA branches of Sweeden, Norway and Finland.
The conference is supported by the United States Embassy – Riga, Latvia, Nordic Council of Ministers and Royal Norwegian Embassy in Riga.
