#SafeLatvia project closing conference at the State Chancellery
On 12 June, we closed the #SafeLatvia project with a discussion at the State Chancellery. There, we presented our first main conclusions and recommendations for further strengthening the information space in Latvia.
The #SafeLatvia project, which we implemented together with the #StateChancellery, took place from March to June this year in 9 Latvian municipalities and 13 schools across Latvia.
The project leader, Rihards Bambals, Head of the Strategic Communication Coordination Department at the State Chancellery, also pointed out that there is a clear “commitment to work in the near future on the development of a memorandum that would unite the efforts of the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Culture, the State Chancellery and the non-governmental and academic sectors to promote media literacy and public resistance to manipulation in information space in Latvian educational institutions”.
The project, together with a wider network of partners, is expected to further institutionalise models of cooperation between local governments and communities, NGOs and the media to overcome challenges in the information space and develop crisis communication models.
We would like to thank all the project supporters and those who agreed to participate in the project activities.
